Journeyman Distillery’s The American Factory campus in Valparaiso will soon open its craft brewery and is working to open a pizza restaurant and karaoke bar in which singers can share the stage with life-sized Chuck E. Cheese-like animatronics of Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.

Valparaiso native Bill Welter opened Journeyman’s second distillery in a historical windshield wiper factory at 258 S. Campbell St. in Valparaiso three months ago. It’s proven to be a popular draw that’s been booked for weddings.
“We’ve had some strong opening support from the community, which has been very gracious,” he said.
Journeyman initially opened the Union Hall restaurant and wedding venue in the 140,000-square-foot factory that dates back to 1906. It should add the Sea of Monsters craft brewery in March or April, Welter said.
