Celebrating One Year in Valparaiso
It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since we opened our doors in Valparaiso. To celebrate, we’re doing something special—inviting you to leave your mark on Journeyman by helping us name our brand-new Vendome copper still.
This year also marks the launch of our INgrained Contract Distilling program. Contract distilling allows us to work with businesses, investors, and individuals in helping to create their own custom spirits or brands. Whether developing a signature recipe or replicating an existing one, we guide partners through every step of the distillation process, helping them bring their unique spirit visions to life.
Why INgrained? The name honors our Valparaiso distillery’s connection to the rich, fertile Indiana soil and the grains sourced from local farms. Just as these grains are ingrained in our spirits, they are also part of Indiana’s heritage and our own journey.
A Nod to Tradition
Our new still isn’t just any piece of equipment—it’s made by Vendome Copper & Brass Works, a family-owned company out of Louisville, Kentucky, that’s been perfecting the art of still-making since the early 1900s. Crafted from copper for its incredible ability to purify and refine spirits, our column still allows us to continuously distill with precision. It’s a workhorse with heart, giving life to the spirits you love, batch by batch.
Now, it needs a name. And that’s where you come in.
The Prize: A Barrel with Your Name on It—Literally
If we choose your name, you’ll receive an incredible gift—a “new fill” barrel of your choice: rye whiskey, wheat whiskey, or bourbon. Once it’s aged to perfection, we’ll bottle it just for you, marking your place in our history. It’s valued at $11,000, but to us, it’s priceless. (Just a heads up—this prize isn’t redeemable for cash, but trust us, it’s worth every sip.)
How to Enter:
– No purchase necessary to join the fun.
– You must be 21 years or older to participate.
– Drop your name suggestion on a paper form and place it inside the Ingrained Barrel in the Spirit Shop at Journeyman in Valparaiso.
– Were keeping it old school – no emails or social media submissions will be accepted. You must come to our Valpo location to submit an entry!
– One submission per person.
– Submissions must include a clear Name, Phone Number, Mailing Address and Email to be valid.
– The contest runs until April 1, 2025, so get your ideas in soon!
We’ll announce the lucky winner on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
The Fine Print:
– The winner will win a “new fill” barrel of their choice—rye whiskey, wheat whiskey, or bourbon. Barrel must be aged in our bonded warehouse.
– The prize is valued at $11,000 and cannot be redeemed for cash.
– Journeyman reserves the right to change the contest rules at any time.
– By entering the contest, the winner grants Journeyman the right to use their name and likeness in promotional materials and announcements related to the contest.
